Dr Karen Brook
Karen is a specialist orthodontist who retired from private practice in Rothesay Bay on Auckland’s North Shore at the end of 2019. In 1977 she graduated as a dentist from the University of Otago, gaining her BDS with Distinction. In 1981 she completed the specialist orthodontic postgraduate program at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, training in both fixed braces and functional appliance treatment. She then moved to London to work as an orthodontist at Great Ormond St Children’s Hospital and Kingston Hospital.
On returning to New Zealand in 1984, Karen worked as an orthodontic associate with Robert Max, George Linn and Pat Bell in Remuera. In 1995 she established a specialist orthodontic practice on the North Shore and was joined in practice in 2011 by Kimberley Timmins. Karen is a Past President of the NZAO and is currently Chair of the NZAO Wish for a Smile Trust.
